If it were possible to go abroad again? I would be in.
Farewell interview after 6 years at DSJ.
Tanja Henrichs led DSJ's primary school for six years and is returning to Germany at the end of the year, drawn back chiefly by her parents and a newly arrived second grandchild. Before Johannesburg she spent six years at a German Bundeswehr school in New Mexico; one reason South Africa pulled her was the anti-apartheid movement she'd been gripped by as a young woman — she'd had pictures of Steve Biko on her bedroom wall. During Covid she introduced hybrid teaching to the primary school before she even knew the term existed.
